This beautiful photograph was taken in Door County, Wisconsin, where stone walls are a common feature of the landscape. The early Belgian and Scandinavian settlers built walls out of the stones they encountered while clearing the fields... now - more than 150 years later they are still standing- reminding us of the back breaking job it was to settle there.
